Priyaa's

What was ordered: Masala Dosas with chutney, and Idili and samber.

Masala Dosas: These are HUGE!!!! Basically, what they are, are Indian style crepes with filling...in this case, the filling was Masala, so there were potatoes, peas, and carrots that was spiced with Indian spices. The “crepe” part of the dosa was thin, crispy, and had a good flavor. Basically what it should be like...it is made up of fermented rice and lentils, which are ground up to make a flour.
The only complaint we would have about the dosas, are that the filling was quite bland...there was not a lot of the filling in the dosa also.

Chutneys: A.) Coriander chutney: There is a bit of different taste about the coriander chutney...mom thinks it was good, and Sarah disagrees. What I didn’t like about the chutney, was that it was not very flavorful at all...it kind of tasted like cardboard to me.

B.) Coconut/ peanut chutney: We both agree that this was EXCELLENT. I think that it was supposed to be more coconutty, but at Priyaa ‘s, they kind of have a more peanutty taste rather than traditional coconut chutney.
C.) There is also a red chutney that we, personally, do not like. In our family, we never really have used it in our cooking, so it just never really appealed to us.

Idili: This is like a rice patty...I LOVE to eat these in India. Oh my gosh, they are SOOOOO yummy! When we were in the Bombay airport, the first thing we ate were idili. Sooooo awesome! (Sarah) At Priyaa ‘s the idili was very good too. We really appreciated that there was a little chili powder mixture on the top, which really added a whole lot to it.

Samber: Had a good flavor. It was a bit stingy on the amount of vegetables though...however, it was not too sour. Some sambers can be VERY sour.

INTERIOR DECORATING

Unimpressive typical Indian....the pictures on the wall are typical. Those pics were the only thing that really made the environment feel Indian. The resturaunt lacked much creativity...

SERVICE

The service was average...not really exceptional, but the employees didn’t really ignore us. The food came at a reasonable time. Also, our water was always filled. However, there wasn’t much interaction between customers and waiters.

Sumary: At Priyaa’ s, you can always expect good food. It’s not OUTSTANDING, but it is moderately good, and can always be depended upon for substantial food.

Amigos

Today, we ate out to lunch at a Mexican restraunt called Amigos. Pretty good food...out of 5 stars, we'd rate it 3 1/2. Here are the details:

Chicken enchilada with American Beef Taco. Side of rice and beans. - very good...flavorful. I very much enjoyed the beans and rice. Not so much the taco though...the beef was kind of chewy. The beans had a bit of a smokey flavor to them.

Portabella mushroom Quesdilla - came with guacamole and sour cream. Guacamole was EXCELLENT. Well spiced. The quesdiilla was grilled. There was also a habenaro sauce on request which was also very well spiced, and was spicy enough.

There was a complimentary basket of chips and salsa that came with our food. The chips were warm, fresh, and they were not stingy about the amount of chips. The salsa also seemed fresh...although it was just basically tomatoes, but fresh!

The service was great too...they were very quick at serving us, and were friendly. Our waitress was very good...

The interior designing of Amigos was amazing! It really felt Mexican...like we were in a little cantina. The exterior was also quite impressive. The building was very well designed.

Our total was $18.10...a pretty decent price for the quality of food.

Conclusion: Would go again!
